I have AT&T DSL (wired through a DSL modem) on my desktop. My daughter just got a new Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop. I’m clueless about laptops/WIFI/hot spots, etc. I know that the DSL that I have on my desktop includes home networking. We would like to connect the laptop to the DSL that we already have in the home.

So far, what I have learned is that I need a “card” of some sort and a wireless router. These are my main questions;

1) Under >Control Panel>Hardware and sound>Device Manager>Network adapters it lists-
Dell Wireless 1395 WLAN Mini-Card
and
Marvell Yukon 88E8040 PCI-E Fast Ethernet Controller

Is one of those the ‘card’ that I need? If not, what kind of card is it? Where do I get it? Through AT&T? Dell?

2) Will any wireless router work? Does it need to be compatible with AT&T DSL or are they all compatible? What is the best type/brand etc to get?

Do you mean the DSL router that I have my desktop connected to? If so, the only info that I can find on it is that it is Motorola and a serial number. I received it from AT&T when I added the DSL to my home phone line.

What info do you need?

I have Dell inspiron 1525 Laptop and LG 32 inches LCD TV (32LG30RA). Both are having inbuilt HDMI slots. I bought an HDMI cable and tried to establish connection between the both. but i failed to do so….is it possible that i can view the contents and videos of my laptop on my large screen LCD TV?? plz help me…!!

my laptop is inspiron 6000 dell , it takes almost 5 minutes to start, and when i shut down it , the screen shows ”windows is shutting down” but it doesn’t shut down.

i bought this computer ab obout 3 months ago and love it accept for one thing….about a week after i bought it, it started making a buzzing noise i took it to best buy and they said to bring it back when i had a couple of weeks..the only thing is i dont have a couple of weeks i NEED this computer for work and for home… i think there might be something caught up in the housing b/c when i tilt it back it doesnt do it as much also i loosened the cover over where the fan is that solved the noise for a little while

when i tighten the cover back down the noise is way worse…

any help will be appreciated and any info on how to fix this or get to the fan to clean and inspect it will also be highly appreciated thanks

I have this laptop, and I got pen all over the cover, I’ve tried everything but it wont come out. Can I replace the cover? thanks.

i recently had to reset my computer, a dell inspiron 1501 os: XP media center edition, and now i can only view, not edit or create, text files with microsoft word. i saw on some site that i need to install the office xp service pack 3 on my computer but for some reason i cant. can anyone help?

I bought it less than a month ago and the battery is not charging. The warranty says its expired. Any idea why it doesn’t charge? I tried taking it out and puting it back in to no avail.

My computer is getting along in age. It’s a little over 3 years old; a Dell Inspiron laptop with a 1.6 GHz processor, 256MB of memory, and about a 40GB drive. I’ve kept it up to date with all the latest software releases - everything but Explorer 7. Still, it has gotten irritably slow as of late. I only use it for the internet, MS Word now and then for homework, and my ipod / iTunes. The few photos I care to save can easily be backed up.

It has, to date, been running perfectly. As trusty a computer as I could ever have asked for.

My question is whether I should format the drive and install Windows 95. Should I? My objective is to get this thing to breeze along at a [significantly] better clip. Any thoughts, ideas, and suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.
